How a Leave Request Affects Availability

When a leave request is approved, the system automatically creates employee availability records for the period of the leave request and the employee is marked as unavailable for the duration of the leave. Since the time selection in the Leave Request module allows an hour/minute selection, availability is accurate right down to the hour and minute of the leave.

If shifts are plotted at a later date for an employee with an approved leave (this can easily happen when clients create ad hoc schedules), a warning message is generated, indicating that an approved leave exists. If the scheduler chooses to continue plotting a conflicting shift and the leave was flagged as requiring relief, the shift is marked as open. If the scheduler chooses not to continue, the shift they are attempting to plot is simply removed from the schedule.
